The Coordinate Plane

    What the coordinate plane is

The coordinate plane uses 2 number lines to show the location of a point.

Ordered pair: 2 numbers (x, y) that give the location of a point. The x-coordinate is first. The y-coordinate is second. Quadrant: 1 of the 4 parts of the plane.

Watch points move on the plane

Origin: the point (0, 0). The x-axis and the y-axis cross at the origin.

    Try it

    Plot the target point

    1. Read the target ordered pair.
    2. Click the grid at the location of the target point.
    3. Read the message. Then click "New point".
    Target: (−2, 3)

Click the grid at the target point.

    Correct points: 0

    Quick check

Answer 5 questions. You see your score at the end.
