GCF and LCM: Basics

    What a factor is

Factors are whole numbers that multiply to make a number.

Factor: a whole number that divides a number with no remainder. Example: 2 × 3 = 6, so 2 and 3 are factors of 6.

Watch the GCF and the LCM of small numbers

Multiple: a number times a whole number. The multiples of 2 are 2, 4, 6, 8, and the numbers after them.
GCF: the greatest factor that 2 numbers share. LCM: the least multiple that 2 numbers share.
