What volume and surface area are
Volume counts the cubes inside a box. Surface area counts the squares on the outside.
Unit cube: a cube with edges of 1 unit. 1 unit cube is 1 cubic unit. Unit square: a square with sides of 1 unit. 1 unit square is 1 square unit.

Face: a flat side of a box. A box has 6 faces: front, back, top, bottom, left, and right.
